From September 6 to September 13, 2012, the IFMA Muay Thai World Championships 2012 was held in St. Petersburg.
In the overall team standings of the Championship, the Russian team took the first place, Belarus took the second place, and Thailand took the third place. Among class A men, athletes from Thailand won five gold medals, Russia received 4 gold medals, Belarus - 3. Belarusian Andrey Kulebin was recognized as the best fighter of the Championship!
Not without scandals. Belarusian fighter Vitaly Gurkov after the fight with Zainalbid Magomedov (Russia) refused to go to the awards ceremony, disagreeing with the controversial decision of the judges.
