! The brighter, pretentious and expensive appearance, the greater the risk of running into trouble. Crime and other dangerous elements distinguish people by markers, which means you need to disguise yourself. Learn to blend in with the crowd and with the area where you are. Why draw attention to yourself once again?

This is not about protective camouflage, but about the concept of a “gray man”. Wear neutral tones, don't move too fast, avoid eye contact, keep expensive items hidden, don't wear a hat, and don't wear conspicuous items. Try to be inconspicuous and not draw attention to be more secure. No one will touch the "Gray Man", because they did not even pay attention to him.

2. Maintain situational awareness

What is situational awareness and why is it needed? Situational awareness is a useful skill that allows you to always stay alert. Never stare at your phone screen or listen to music with headphones so you don't get caught off guard. How many of these music lovers found themselves without headphones, phone and money, but with a broken head? Enough to repeat this mistake while walking down a dark street.

Look straight and confident so as not to look like a frightened victim. But avoid making eye contact so as not to provoke a direct conflict.

Pay attention to anomalous and unusual events that occur nearby. Watch out for alarms that indicate an escalating dangerous situation. It can be noisy companies, loud noises, shooting or running people.

3. Think about exits and escape routes

When you enter a building, cafe, restaurant, cinema or other place, think about an emergency exit. If a fire breaks out, will there be a terrorist attack or armed people will appear? You know the direction of escape, even if the evacuation takes place in the dark or in panic.

Always lock your apartment, car, house, or office so no one can take advantage of it. Calculate escape routes in yards and narrow streets. Avoid dead ends and places where you will be squeezed and helpless. Calculate exits and escape routes - this is an important rule of survival.

4. Learn to avoid dangers

Avoid places where you can be in trouble. Better take a detour along a lighted and crowded street, instead of a short road through a dark courtyard. Avoid noisy companies, drunk people, fan groups, people in camouflage and law enforcement agencies.

Leave and move as far as possible from dangerous or suspicious places. Get away from where the conflict begins to brew, a lot of people accumulate and potential dangers appear. Flight, in most extreme situations, can be life-saving, unlike direct confrontation. Running is a great way to save valuables, health and life.

When a conflict is inevitable, it is better to give the money to the robber, but leave unharmed. You will earn money, a car or something else, but no new life. Don't get into fights you can avoid. The best fight is a failed fight. Many of these conflicts end in blood, injury, hospital, police or prison. It's best to always avoid it while you can. In case of a hopeless situation, behave as cruelly, cunningly, desperately and boldly as possible. If there is nowhere to retreat, then fight.

5. Get the necessary survival skills in advance

The rules of survival in the city say that you need to have extraordinary skills and abilities. Learn to handle firearms, edged weapons, martial arts and first aid. Usually we avoid all this, considering elementary survival skills useless. But all this is useless until the first emergency. Then people are divided into those who can do something and those who die in the first minutes.

In extreme situations, survival skills and good physical fitness are important. If you start to get out of breath when climbing stairs, are overweight, run badly and do not have an athletic figure, then the chances of survival are minimal. Emergencies require good physical shape, experience and composure.
