Angler Tips: Proven Angler Tips That Always Work

You are going to relax in nature, with tents, near a pond. You plan, a list of things that you will take with you. What if we add a fishing rod to this list?

Lake, fishing rod, fishing, fish - quite a logical set, but what if you have never fished?

Besides, you don't have gear. Because of one trip, I don’t want to run to a fishing store at all.

For the first time, you can borrow or rent a rod, as well as learn proven tips for anglers that always work.

    A few days, by the lake or river, surrounded by good company, charge with new forces for a long time. If such a vacation is combined with successful fishing, then positive memories will remain many times more.

    You are going to fish for the first time, and already you see yourself sitting on the shore and looking at the float. So that all this does not turn into a simple meditation, you need to get to know the reservoir and its inhabitants better.

    Now any information can be gleaned from the Internet or ask for advice from familiar fishermen. For example, what kind of fish is found in a particular reservoir, what it bites at, at what time.

    The easiest option is to dig up earthworms and take them with you. Not all water, you can find worms. Put them in a jar, pour some of the earth from which they dug them out into it. In such conditions, they will live long enough, the main thing is that air enters, and it is relatively humid.

    A fish pecks at a worm in the lake, in the river, and in the pond. Perch is found almost everywhere, and where there is perch, there are other fish that he hunts.

    A few more tips for anglers who are always working:

    1. When the pressure drops, the fish are caught closer to the surface, if it rises, then it will peck almost at the bottom.

    2. If the pressure is stable, there is a slight breeze from the west or southwest, then it will be good to peck, and the catch is practically guaranteed.

    3. A thunderstorm is gathering - this is not the time for fishing, pecking will be bad. After it, do not yawn, just have time to throw and pull out.

    4. When it's hot, the fish tends to cool places, where it's deeper, under steep banks, closer to springs.

    5. The water level does not change, the fish are in those places where they usually feed and bite well.

    6. A change in the water level in any direction impairs fishing.

    So, you have in reserve advice for anglers who always work, regardless of the place of fishing, and a fishing rod that you borrowed from friends. Most likely, it will be a fly rod with a retractable or prefabricated rod, about 3.5 m long, made of plastic or bamboo. It is already equipped with a sinker, a float and a hook, you just need to learn how to change the depth, you will try everything else in practice.

    For fishing from the shore, different gear is used, depending on the goal and task that the fisherman sets for himself. You can fish near the shore and cast a hook with bait far enough to 50-60 m. Based on the target, special rods are selected, they differ in length, floats - in weight and sinkers. This is a whole science, but, unfortunately or fortunately, you have what you were given and you will have to work with what you have.

    Choosing a place

    You came to this place for the first time, to this reservoir. Before setting up the tents, everyone usually approaches the water, looking and contemplating the shore. And at the same time you choose the place from which you will cast the bait. It, if possible, should be:

    1. Windless. In the wind it is not very convenient to mess around with gear, and the float will blow off all the time.

    2. Deep. This can be determined by the color of the water, the deeper, the darker the water.

    3. Kamyshov. The fish likes to hide in water thickets from predators and from the heat.

    During the day, a large fish leaves the shallow shore, and returns in the evening. Also, the Fishing Place can be identified by bubbles in the water or jumping fish.

    Chose the place. Now he needs to be fed to be sure to catch fish. But if this is not the main thing, then you can not feed.

    Groundbait

    Today, fish bait can be bought at a fishing store or made by yourself. When buying, you can choose a bait for every taste and budget. The sales assistant will tell you which one works best and for which fish. But since this time you decided to do without unnecessary expenses and purchases, you can talk about making your own bait.

    Homemade bait consists of:

    1. The bulk. It creates volume, occupies 60-70% of the finished bait. For it you can use: compound feed, sunflower cake, peas, pearl barley, halva, cake, bran, oatmeal, millet.

    2. Feed additives. This is the main dish that the fish wants to find and eat. As a rule, they use what is put on the hook as bait, only in a more crushed state.

    3. Binding additives. This is an important element of bait, with which you can adjust the viscosity of the bait, plasticity and the time during which it crumbles in the water. Suitable for this: gingerbread, cookies, muffins, white bread crumb, oatmeal or rye flour, semolina, boiled rice, peas or millet.

    4. Loosening additives. They should not have stickiness properties, since their main task is to reduce viscosity. Perfect: corn or barley flour, dry oatmeal, milk powder, chopped pumpkin or sunflower seeds.

    5. Dyes. They play the role of camouflage. With their help, you can disguise the bait under the color of this base. Most often, food coloring and a variety of primers are used. This is the penultimate stage before wetting and it is better to do it directly on the shore.

    6. Flavorings. Where do without them. Fishing shops will offer a wide range of concentrated flavors. But we will do everything ourselves. Most often, craftsmen fishermen use: sunflower oil, also anise and hemp; fish fat; crushed garlic; comma condensed milk; roasted seeds passed through a meat grinder. In addition, you can use a variety of spices such as: saffron, chicory, cinnamon or vanilla.

    We start fishing, we are waiting for a good bite

    And it happened! You woke up before sunrise. The whole camp is sleeping. The silence is broken only by the singing of birds.

    You get out of the tent, collect gear and go to the fishing spot that you have looked after since the evening.

    First of all, feed the place of fishing. This could be done both in the evening and before casting the line.

    Next, prepare the tackle and adjust the depth with the float. To begin with, make the maximum depth, this can be seen when casting - the float will lie on the water. Then, gradually shorten the distance between the hook and the float, each time casting the tackle. It is necessary to ensure that the float stands upright. So we find out the true depth of the fishing ground. In what layers of water the hook with the bait will hang, we will orient ourselves according to the weather. If a clear, sunny day is planned, the pressure is low; if it is gloomy and overcast, it is high.

    I fed, planted a worm, threw a fishing rod, now carefully look at the float. With a good bite, it will be pulled to the side or down, hook in the opposite direction.

    The float line is generally used to catch peaceful fish such as:

    • crucian carp;
    • roach;
    • horned;
    • carp;
    • bleak;
    • bream;
    • perch (but this is already a predator);
    • and even pike (if you fish with live bait and with special equipment).

    You did everything right, the weather did not let you down, the advice to the anglers came in handy, and then you are 85% with the catch.

    How to save the prey

    With a good bite, you won't have time to bother saving the caught fish. The easiest way is a bucket of water or a pot. It is clear that you don’t have a special net for storing caught fish that should be in the water, so you can make an impromptu kukan from any branch of a bush.

    Any method by which you will collect the caught fish in one place will do, in extreme cases, you can use a plastic bag, now everyone has such and such good. You take a bag, pierce small holes in the bottom, lower it into the water. You fix the handles in the air by attaching them to a previously driven peg.

    Salt will help keep the fish longer. But before salting, it needs to be gutted. It is necessary to sprinkle with salt from the inside and outside, and quite thickly, the fish will not take excess salt, and if it does, then always soak it in fresh water.

    But most likely, your caught trophies will go to the common pot, and the noble ear will please all your friends.

    Appetite comes with eating

    This happens in fishing. If you came to fish and did not catch anything, then the enthusiasm drops noticeably. If this continues to happen in subsequent times, then most likely you will quit this business.

    But, as a rule, everything happens the other way around. Your first fishing ended successfully, the fish was caught, the fish soup was cooked, the pleasure from the process was received. But there is an understanding that with a fly fishing rod, you can only get a small trophy, up to one kg, this is a little more than a palm. And success must be developed and consolidated, that is, to catch a larger fish.

    In this case, you can no longer do with some kind of fishing rod taken from a friend. Now you have to spend money to arm yourself with tackle for larger fish. As you know, a peaceful large fish feeds from the bottom, then we will talk about bottom tackle, which served our ancestors hundreds of years ago.

    Big fish is caught on the bottom

    In fact, this is a very simple tackle, which is assembled from a thick fishing line, at least 0.35 mm, wound on a spool or reel, sinkers with a good weight, necessary for long-range hand throw, and it also keeps the bait in place, even with very good current, and leaders with hooks that are located above the load.

    Fishing from the bottom, involves the extraction of test trophies, so the fishing line must be thick so as not to break at a crucial moment.

    The sinker can weigh from 30 to 100 g, preferably in a teardrop shape. If you plan to fish on the river, then a heavier load will easily keep the bait in the current, and it will be easier to cast it.

    For catching large fish, large and high-quality hooks are needed. They must match the tackle, and it is desirable to have a self-cutting effect.

    The choice of bait should be guided by the fish you are going to catch. It is best to use what the fish are used to. Sometimes the use of expensive baits from the store does not give the desired result, and a simple earthworm on the hook brings much more benefits and trophies.

    Since several leashes with hooks are usually used on the donk, the bait on each one can be different. This will increase the chances of success and determine what local fish like best.

    Casting is easy. To begin with, wind the fishing line from the reel to the desired length and carefully spread it on the ground in rings, then swing the sinker like a pendulum and release your hand, the other end should be fixed at this time. After a little training, you will be able to throw the load at 50 - 60 meters.

    This method has one drawback, the noise when the sinker enters the water. It scares the fish away for a while, but there is a way out - to use an elastic band.

    Better with elastic

    This method allows you to silently deliver the bait to the place of fishing. The only difficulty can arise only at the first casting of the sinker. If it is possible to use a boat, then use it, lower the load from it and attach a fishing line with a float or a piece of foam to it. This is in case of a break.

    Tackle - rubber bands:

    • heavy sinker;
    • nylon leash, one meter;
    • special rubber band, 10 m long;
    • 0.35 mm main line;
    • a separate piece of fishing line with habits;
    • two reels for line and elastic;
    • racks;
    • alarm bell.

    Fishing from the bank with a rubber band is easy enough. Unwind both reels and carefully lay out the elastic and main line. Then, for a nylon leash, spin the load and throw it as far as possible. Flying away into the distance, the sinker drags a nylon cord with it, to which an elastic band or a rubber shock absorber is attached, which in turn drags the main fishing line behind it. The main thing is that the length of the stretched elastic is enough to deliver the hooks from the water.

    After the cargo is abandoned, you need to pull the fishing line out of the water and install leashes with hooks on it, put on the bait and use the shock absorber to deliver them to the place of fishing.

    At the end of fishing, it is not easy to remove the load, because it has a decent weight. If you are with a boat, then there is no problem, you swim up to the float and pull the load into the boat. There is no boat - drag the sinker ashore no matter what. As soon as you feel that he started moving, pull faster, but without jerking, the load should not stop.

    There is another way. Install an additional cord, the length of which will be equal to or slightly longer than the maximum stretched elastic band. Attach it to the sinker and main line. It starts working when the rubber is fully stretched.

    Feeder fishing

    What is a feeder? The name of this gear comes from the English word "feed" - to feed, its main task is bottom fishing with a feeder. You will have to practice throwing it in the same place, because the feeder serves to attract fish and keep them in one place.

    Feeder tackle is somewhat similar to spinning, but differs in a large number of throughput rings on the rod. Plus, this rod should come with interchangeable tips.

    You're still learning how to use angler tips that always work, so pick a 1.8m to 2.4m feeder rod to start with. That should be enough to get you started. Everything else is standard:

    • coil;
    • cord;
    • feeder;
    • cargo;
    • hooks;
    • leashes;
    • stopper;
    • interchangeable tips;
    • bite alarm;
    • and other items and accessories.

    Fishing with a feeder is possible both from the shore and from a boat. Depending on the equipment, it allows you to catch specimens up to 6 - 8 kg.

    From feeder to spinning

    further, in expanding the range of fish caught. By that time, you will already have a real hunting passion in fishing. In parallel, you will gain knowledge and experience, use in practice the advice to anglers who always work and make sure that this is really the case. The next step will be spinning fishing.

    And this is already like a real hunt, which implies the study of the flood of predatory fish, because spinning fishing is catching predators. As mentioned above, a spinning rod differs from a feeder rod by having fewer guides and greater elasticity.

    The main purpose of spinning fishing is casting artificial bait instead of the supposed presence of fish and guiding it in layers of water. While moving, the bait imitates the behavior of a sick fish and provokes a predator to attack.

    Before picking up tackle for fishing from the shore, you need to decide for yourself on which body of water you will use it. If it is a small pond, a lake or a small river, then it is best to use a small and light rod, the weight of the bait should not exceed 5-10g.

    For fishing on a large reservoir or river, where it is planned to catch large fish, the rods should be chosen heavier, and the weight of the lures should be about 10 - 20 grams, but this already depends on the depth and casting distance.

    Spinning can be equipped with three types of reels: inertial drum reels - they are already in the past, but they are used only for fly fishing. Inertialess are the best option for a beginner spinning player, although experienced fishermen have been using them for many years. Multiplier - designed for fishing with very light baits or, on the contrary, too heavy if you fish by trolling. This is not the best option for a beginner.

    And a little about bait. There are an incredibly huge number of them, but they are all divided into:

    • spinners rotating and oscillating;
    • silicone twisters and vibrotails;
    • Wobblers, as a rule, are made of plastic with a blade in the front part, for deepening when moving.

    In addition, baits differ in weight and purpose, for one or another fish.

    To understand and feel the essence of this type of fishing, start with perch hunting, which is found in almost any body of water. Well, then you will switch to pike and other predatory fish.

    When you get high from what you do, you always succeed, and if you don’t succeed, then this is also temporary. Happy fishing!
